Obituary for Richard Carlson

Richard J Carlson, 77, of Antigo, WI

Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 4th, 2025. Richard was born July 1st, 1947 in Menominee, MI. He lived in Pound, Lena and Marinette, WI. As well as Menominee, MI. He lived the past 12 years in Antigo, WI.

He is survived his children: Dianne (Don) Young, Steven (Marian) Carlson, Brenda Carlson, Stacy (Jared) Phillips, Opal Carlson (Ken Connors), Kathy Davis and Robert Delfosse. His siblings: Mary Ann (Buddy) Walden, Wesley (Bonnie) Carlson, Annette Carlson, Dixie Braemer, James Amidon and Loui (Matt) Deeds.

Preceded in by: Parents Wesley (Opal) Carlson, Mother Veronica Bender. The love of his life, Estella. Brother, Michael Carlson and many Aunts and Uncles.

In his early life he loved farming, driving a tractor was his joy, and in his later life he owned many different models. He was proudest when he found one like his father had. Richard enjoyed traveling, Carlson Family Reunions and spending time with friends. He had many interesting jobs. While living in a foster home he baled hay and milked all the cows by himself. He was a mechanic at a number of service stations. He helped to build a water tower in Marinette, WI and a missile silo in Montana. He was a welder at Marinette Marine. He drove semi off and on for over 50 years driving all over the U.S. and Canada loving every mile. The last 6 years was for Karl’s Transport which was “the best place he ever worked!”.

Owning his own company, Richard’s Machinery Sales, he became acquainted with people around the world and was proudest of the sale of a machine to a museum in Sweden. He loved going to truck and tractor shows where he enjoyed talking with people. Always trying to put a smile on their face and sometimes sharing his love of the Lord Jesus.

A celebration of life memorial will be held June 21st at 2pm at the Mattoon Church of the Nazarene pavilion, N10399 County Road D Birnamwood, WI 54414 Luncheon Provided.
